My name is Ta’Neshia Ford and I am a literacy coach with PEELLS- Partnership for Excellence in Early Language and Literacy Skills. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia State University with a B.A. degree in English. I later received my Master’s of Education Degree here at Virginia Commonwealth University in Reading. My love of reading and a desire to help students to become better readers was the motivation behind me becoming a Reading Specialist.
I began my career in education in Richmond City Public Schools as an English Teacher. After teaching there for several years, I accepted the position as a Reading Specialist on the Richmond Early Reading First grant here at VCU. I am currently matriculating through the post master certificate program in Administration and Supervision here at VCU.
I enjoy spending quality time with my family and my hobbies include cooking, reading and writing poetry. Early Literacy has provided me with a tremendous opportunity to affect positive change in the lives of children and their families.
